Work being shown at ATM
Name: ERASE (Rrrrhythms) (2025)
Location: The Holden Gallery
Media: 15 independent channels with unsynchonised video of original footage, performance on 4 Nov by the collective, newsroom.
Description: ERASE (rrrhythms) is a video installation and collective performance in three parts: solidarity, idiorrhythm, and dissolution. The solidarity stage features an anticipatory presence in the entire building of the School of Art at Manchester Metropolitan University as part of the official inauguration of ATM6. This procession involves walking collectively from gallery to gallery, using corridors and stairs as our stage. The final stage is the arrival at the installation component of the work, which ‘initiates’ the work and its exhibition. This is conceived as an ever-changing, multi-screen newsroom at the Holden Gallery: a fifteen-channel display showing images in simultaneous and serendipitous juxtaposition. Through images of earlier performances by Tiong Ang & Company in ‘unprescribed’ conditions, the display represents multiple perspectives from the Netherlands, Romania, and Indonesia, as well as new voices from ‘alternative’ China.
